Join a mosaic workshop
Have you always wanted to create your own mosaic? Now you have the opportunity to join a workshop to learn about this wonderful art form!
At "Mosaics designed for you", you will receive a very warm welcome into my beautiful workshop and soak up the inspirational atmosphere as you learn about this amazing craft. Whether you are a complete beginner, have found that you are not confident with other art forms or you are a well - seasoned crafter with experience in mosaic skills, you are very welcome to join my workshops. All workshops are suitable for all levels.
You can join one of the scheduled mosaic workshops or contact me to request a specific workshop at an alternative time. Workshops are a wonderful social for work colleagues, perfect for parties, as a one-off inspirational experience or sessions which keep you coming back to create more beautiful mosaics. Please make a request to attend a private workshop whether for yourself, or with friends and family, and to celebrate a special event.
Enjoy the relaxing experience as you focus on the delight of creating. The skills that you learn can be applied to further projects.
A selection of workshops
There are a variety of exciting mosaic workshops, each offering different options. Whichever you choose, you will create a beautiful mosaic to take home with you and will have learnt skills to apply to further creations.
It gives me great joy to share my passion for mosaics with you. During these sessions, I introduce you to fundamental techniques and guide you through processes to complete your mosaic.
There will be an opportunity to see a range of tesserae. You will work with vitreous glass tiles and in some workshops you will also use iridescent and metallic glass tiles. You will learn about the importance of spacing the tesserae to leave the interstice, or spacing, where the grout will be placed at a later stage in the process. You will use wheeled tile nippers in the production of your beautiful mosaic.
It is wonderful to see the pleasure these workshops bring to attendees as they catch the bug for mosaic making, often returning for more workshops or Mosaic Club, or going on to create mosaics at home in their spare time.
These sessions are great fun! They allow you to experience a meditative and relaxing environment. Observe the colours and designs used in an array of my beautiful mosaics, with the opportunity to browse and purchase my products before you leave. Chat away and enjoy the experience of creating your mosaic.
Choose Your Workshop
Take a look at the eleven different mosaic workshops which you can attend. These workshops include a one-hour workshop where you will concentrate on designing and gluing, through to workshops lasting two hours or two and a half hours where you will learn how to cut the mosaic tiles along with the other processes of gluing and grouting. Box and Coaster Mosaic Workshop
This is an hour workshop, suitable for children. Whether wanting to learn a new skill, have an hour of fun crafting or celebrating a birthday party with friends, this is an ideal workshop to start your mosaic experience.
You will use precut vitreous tiles so there won´t be any need to use tile nippers to cut glass during this session. You will begin by making a mosaic coaster. A range of coloured tiles will be available for you to choose from. You will then make a mosaic design on the top of a wooden box.

Coaster Mosaic Workshop
This is a two-hour workshop and is suitable for beginners, but very enjoyable for all levels. You will use 10mm precut vitreous tiles so there won´t be any need to use tile nippers to cut glass during this session.
You can choose between two sizes of wooden coasters to work on. A range of coloured tiles will be available for you to choose from.
You will be shown how to complete the grouting process.

Three Flowers Mosaic Workshop
This workshop lasts two and a half hours. You will be given a step-by-step introduction to using wheeled tile nippers and learn how to make different cutting techniques to cut vitreous and metallic glass tiles. You will be guided through the mosaic process to create a mosaic with three flowers.
You will be shown how to grout your mosaic.

Herringbone Pattern Mosaic Workshop
This is a thoroughly enjoyable two-hour workshop where you will create a herringbone mosaic pattern on a wooden coaster.
There will be a selection of coloured tiles to choose from. Firstly, you will form the border of your mosaic using precut tiles. Then you will learn how to use wheeled tile nippers to cut vitreous and metallic tiles, firstly making straight cuts to form rectangles. After this you will cut triangles and shapes to complete remaining spaces.
I will show you how to complete the grouting process.

Hedgehog Mosaic Workshop
This two-hour workshop is sure to keep you smiling as you create a jolly hedgehog mosaic.
You will be given a step-by-step introduction to using wheeled tile nippers and learn how to make different cutting techniques to cut vitreous and metallic glass tiles. You will be guided through the mosaic process to create your design.
As you enjoy the session you will have time to think of a name for your hedgehog!
You will be shown how to grout your mosaic.

Flower Coaster Mosaic Workshop
In this two-hour workshop you will make a flower mosaic coaster.
You can choose from four different colour designs. If you find it really difficult to choose which colour is your favourite, then make one mosaic during this two-hour session and buy a kit to complete another one at home!
You will use some precut tiles but also learn how to cut vitreous tiles. You will be taught a variety of cutting techniques to create the flower. Then you can choose which cutting technique to use as you design the background mosaic pattern using either a regular or irregular pattern.
You will be shown how to complete the grouting process.

Tree Mosaic Workshop
This is a two-hour workshop.
You will be given a step-by-step guide to help you create your own mosaic based on this tree mosaic pattern. Using wheeled tile nippers, you will learn how to make different cutting techniques to cut the vitreous tiles into different shapes. You will have time to practise the techniques and then enjoy the session as you continue the creating the leaves, trunk and background.
You will be shown how to grout your mosaic.

Small House Number Mosaic Workshop
In this two-hour workshop you will make a small mosaic house number on a wooden board.
Whilst you will be given demonstrations and a step-by-step guide into the cutting techniques, there will be opportunities for you to add your own artistic flair to your house number. From changing the number to adding different shapes into your design, you will create a beautiful house number which you will be proud to display.
You will use precut tiles for the border and number and then learn how to cut vitreous tiles to create the pattern and background.
You will be shown how to complete the grouting process.

Sunflower Mosaic Workshop
In this two-hour workshop you will create a beautiful sunflower mosaic, which is sure to bring joy and colour into your home.
You will be given a step-by-step guide through the processes of designing, cutting and gluing. You will use wheeled tile nippers to cut vitreous tiles into different shapes.
You will be shown how to grout your mosaic.

Lizard Mosaic Workshop
In this two-hour workshop you will make a lizard mosaic.
This traditional Canarian mosaic design is based on the lizards which can be seen in Tenerife. Why not have your own momento to decorate your home or garden!
Follow the step-by-step guide through the processes to create different patterns with the tesserae. Learn cutting techniques and then add your own design ideas as you create the background.
You will be shown how to complete the grouting process.

Cactus Mosaic Workshop
This is a two-and-a-half-hour workshop to make a mosaic with a cactus theme.
Tenerife is a wonderful place to see cacti growing all year round. Therefore, whether you are a resident or a visitor to the Canary Islands, this workshop´s cactus mosaic design will be a reminder of the beautiful landscape.
You will be given a step-by-step guide through the designing process and taught cutting techniques using wheeled tile nippers.
After the gluing process is complete you will be shown the grouting process.

We had a great time learning how to make Mosaics with Karen, she is a great teacher, very knowledgeable, patient and creative. Her studio is well equipped, she had thought of everything, gave good advice but let us create our own designs. It was our first time making mosaics, Karen put us at ease and we had great fun, plus lots of learning. We made a picture frame and coaster which has pride of place at home. If you are a novice and want to try, I´d strongly recommend Karen.
It has been a very nice and gratifying experience. I have taken a course with Karen to learn the basic techniques for making mosaics, to know the working method and the materials used, and the truth is I really liked it. It is very well organised since all the necessary materials were already prepared in a kit, which also had very detailed instructions. It´s addictive, because now I really want to continue making mosaics!
